Mane Phély’s practice is rooted in her dialogue with nature, an inexhaustible source of forms, textures, and rhythms. From her early experiments in clay, plaster, and bronze, she has moved toward the surprising simplicity of cardboard—a material she now places at the heart of her work.
Made from trees, cardboard is itself organic, carrying the memory of the forest within its fibers. Humble in appearance yet infinitely rich, it reveals both fragility and resilience, flexibility and resistance. For Phély, it echoes the living cycle of nature: bending, transforming, and enduring.
Through gestures of tearing, layering, and reconstruction, she elevates this everyday material into something precious, blurring the boundary between the modest and the refined. Her current wall sculptures draw inspiration from natural textures—bark, eroded stone, flowing plants—unfolding as a meditation on time, transformation, and the hidden beauty of matter.
In her work, nature and material meet in quiet resonance, inviting us to see the organic world not as distant, but as an ever-present, living force.
